08.27.2008 The Ravalli County Fair Parade

Tradition! Tradition! Tradition! Nothing is more fun than lining up along Main Street in Hamilton waiting for the fair parade (that is...if you are 12 or under). This year was no exception. It was a cold, drizzly morning (thankfully the rain waited until the parade was over). The best part for the kiddies is that the people on the floats throw candy. The kids know this and bring little grocery bags and wait in anticipation! Bubba was no different. SMILES all around.

Hard to see her, but Danielle was actually in the parade this year on a float for her school Hamilton Christian Academy. She's the one in the front right/middle with the pink sweatshirt & straw cowboy hat on. Yeah for sister! That was fun for her.

There was a surprise treat this year, something that had never happened before. I sure am glad, because we were extremely dissapointed with the amount of candy this year-no one was even throwing it (we found out later that all float entries had to sign a waiver they wouldn't throw the candy?!) Bubba got 3 pieces during the whole thing and was really bummed....that is....until this last participant (Donaldson's Concrete) came rolling by. Unbelievably they filled this cement truck with candy and it dropped onto the conveyor belt which a guy walking along side pointed toward the anxious children lining the streets. It was a candy bonanza! Bubba and Daddy filled up and entire bag (which luckily was happily shared with sister and later mommy managed to toss most of it) and was glowing he was so happy. YEAH FOR THE SMALL TOWN ENGINUITY!!
