Why our Kitchen Smells

On one of the many visits to our house we were measuring and checking out the storage capabilities of our kitchen. I opened a drawer and found this

Ok, so i have a REAL weak stomach. Now i need new drawers. There was not one, but TWO drawers like this. Later, when the guys took out all the lower cabinets there was more. We wanted to move everything so we can get ready to re-texture, build a pantry and change out the front door. Apparently someone put out a bunch of mouse killing stuff (Decon) behind and under the cabinets. The problem with this type of erradication is that they eat it then die. Usually really close to where they eat it. In our case, behind the cabinets, behind the dishwasher, wherever. I don't know how they lived there with the smell. Or maybe some genius realtor did it. Who knows. All i can say is don't click on the picture to make it bigger unless you can take it. Made me wanna lose my breakfast. Those are baby mice ick. A couple weeks later they were baby mice skeletons. Man decomp happens really fast. Grandpa came to help with the fixing of the house and counted more than 12 dead mice. In the kitchen. It's been 3 days (as of 9/6) since all the cabinets and dead vermin have been removed. It smells totally better. Not good, but better.

I'm going to try to post before and after pictures of our project if i can. Unfortunately, it will be a while before much after photos. There is alot of work to be done.
