Well, it's about to get COLD here folks, and we still have no heat in the new house. We finally (after like 5 estimates) decided on a company and they started the duct work TODAY. Yippe. We will have TWO systems. TWO Heaters. TWO Thermostats. TWO Aprilaire systems. My lovely family that has visited before will appreciate that. In our current house it is upstairs "Toasty", and downstairs "Tundra". They are all tied to the same system, but the thermostat is UPSTAIRS. So when upstairs gets warm - downstairs is still cold. Like 10-15 degrees colder.
Not anymore folks. Your comfort is my goal. Oh, but wait, the guest room is now upstairs. Hmmm. Well we have 3 guestrooms technically -so if all the family was here at once then everyone would be the same degree of Toasty.

p.s. if you don't know what Aprilaire is you gotta check it out. It is a humidty system hooked to the heater that checks the outside temp, inside temp, and adjusts the humidity. No more hot dry air! We really needed this due to Sis overly frequent nosebleeds from the dry air. We got the Aprilaire 7000 baby! Top of the line in comfort. =)

10.02.2009 DOCTORS, SHOTS, DENTISTS
Sorry for the lack of posts lately.. this has been a busy week of Eye Dr., Regular Dr., Dentist appointments and of course HOUSE STUFF.
First the kids and I went and got our annual eye exams. The kids have never been before and they are 7 & 5 so i thought it was high time. Honestly, i wanted to make sure Bubba was good so there would be no problems for him to start reading. Who knew it would actually be SIS with the problem! They both did GREAT with their exams. Sis was lucky enough to inherit astigmatism from her daddy. So we are gonna try to correct what we can now while she is young. Her eyes get very tired when she is reading and since she is in chapter books that is a bummer. So she pretty much only has to wear them while doing schoolwork, homework and reading.
I'd like to say for the record...when i was a girl and you had to get glasses it was the.end.of.the.world!! Not my girl, she jumped around all giddy-like about her newest fashion accessory. No joke. She ran down the hall to go pick out some frames while i finished up my exam with the Dr. In like 3 minutes flat she was back with the cutest things you have ever seen. Not that i knew the price tag - i just thought mom should go & see if there was another style/color that was better (or cheaper). She takes after mom that is for sure. She managed to pick out the MOST EXPENSIVE (albeit the CUTEST pair) they had. The are JUICY COUTURE. No Lie. Like what celebs wear - like that track suits. OMG. I wanted to hyperventilate. But how can you dash the dreams of a girl that is EXCITED to wear glasses?! I couldn't. Dad on the other hand was none too happy about our latest purchase. Luckily the Dr. office was a client of our business, and they owed us money - so we did a trade. No real money out of pocket, but no income either. They were ALOT, but, moving on....
they will be here in a couple of days so you'll get to see them for yourself.
On the other front, Bubba is 5 (since March remember) and in Kindergarten and still no shots. So it was finally our appt with the Doc (3 week wait) and he got them. Notice the photos. Well check, all smiles. Then take off the shirt, then the shot. Sorry folks, i am a scrapbooker so i had to get the shot (*no pun intended) of the dirty deed. Poor baby. Mama got to console him afterward. That kid didn't stop crying for like 5 minutes. But we got ice cream. About 4 hours later he had a fever and was miserable. So we curled up in bed and watched Twilight...our favorite "chill" movie. He was out in 5 minutes. Poor baby. Here's the evidence...

*My friend Dawn saw Bubba later that day and offered to go "Kick her Butt" (the Nurse that did this to him that is) And my sweet child got a piece of paper and wrote her directions to the Doctors office. No Joke. OMG Funny!

09.29.2009 The painting (priming) begins!
Well, I am just ITCHIN to have something ACCOMPLISHED! So this weekend i started the priming of the rooms. The little bathroom and the 3 bedrooms are all textured. We taped the floors/windows - did a little sanding and then got to it! This is truly a "family project" so we let the kids help. Bubba was more interested in playing outside so just sis helped. Steven (Erick's friend) has been helping out at the house for the past couple of weeks and even Erick graced us with his presence for a couple of hours. All in all - pretty productive. We got the bathroom primed and 95% of Sis' room. Who knew it was so much work? Apparently i forgot bcuz i was thinking i could get all 4 rooms done in 1 day. LOL. Hilarious!
Did i mention how awesome it is to have a helper that is 6 foot 5in ?!!!

**The sad part of this story is 1 day later holes had to be cut in the bathroom (which = patch/texture/re-prime) and in Sis' closet to find the leak in the plumbing for their shower. So even though progress was made - more work is to come.

09.24.2009 Some call it progress
BEFORE
Well, the garage is done (for now). We actually still need to put in insulation (on site) and drywall (on site) and put in some electrical (can't do that yet until we know when/where we can dig). Still no roof (can't find the right red metal to match the house). But the structure is up, the vapor barrier is on, and the windows are in! We have the door but haven't put it on. The soffit still needs to go up, but that is another trip to Missoula...and well, i was just there for 4 hrs yesterday so that aint gonna happen (...today anyway). But we can pull in and park so i call it progress.
We also have all the materials to get the little bathroom (the kids bath/main bath) done. I picked it all up yesterday (making me late for the Grey's Anatomy 2 hour Season Premier...but i'm not bitter...moving on...) in Missoula. HardiBacker, Tile, Grout - DeRell will be busy on Saturday.
On other fronts the texturing / priming / painting is at a standstill. Our kind friend helping us hurt his back and wasn't able to come all week (waaaaah) so I am super bummed. The bedrooms and bath/hallway are textured so I am gonna sand them and prime them myself tomorrow. Cuz once they are primed they can be painted, and trim installed and all that stuff. I need progress people, I need a job other than gopher to go get stuff from far off places like Kalispell & Missoula. I need progress. I need completion.
Isn't it funny how "we" think we are in control in our lives? How we think that the harder we work or try something is gonna happen. Instead i should just be on my knees asking what the Lord has in store for me. It's supposed to get cold next week, the inside isn't done - we haven't even started on the outside. And we have no heat. But i am a glass half full gal most of the time (or at least i used to be) so i began this post with progress and what IS done. Trying to focus on the positives in this journey. One truly positive thing is that DeRell and I are agreeing or finding a way to compromise alot better.

Friday the guys are working on moving the plumbing in the office (it is the plumbing for the kids bath that we are about to start on) that is sticking down about 8 inches. The plumber that came out said there is absolutely no reason it is hanging down below the trusses like that. So they are gonna cut and move some fittings around to get it to fit up in there. Then they can finish framing the closet in that room (the office). It should be a busy Saturday, we are all heading out there for a full day of work. Even Steven and Erick should be there.
PROGRESS that's what we'll be making.

09.21.2009 Mom's everywhere are cringing
Ya, that's Monkey Girl. Who talked her daddy into driving all the way home to get her tennis shoes cuz she wore Cowboy Boots out to the house/jobsite.
And he did.
And they didn't have full rubber bottoms-there was some funky felt stuff.
So....she convinced daddy to get her some new ones in Missoula.
And he did.
She has got him wrapped around her finger that is for sure.
She was up there quite a bit while i was on my pleasure drive to/from Kalispell on Sunday. Then Bubba begged to get up there once we got there. So whats a mom to do?! I guess get the camera.
So i did.
